Shopping/Grocery Bag

A sweet friend in Oslo, bought me this foldable bag in London. I always carry it with me in my purse or bag on a daily basis. Especially if I know I need something from the store. To avoid buying a plastic/paper bag every single time I shop something. Saving a little money, space at home and the obvious main reason - it's better for the environment not to take a new bag every time you shop, in every single store you go to..! No matter how "environment-friendly" the bag is!
But nothing lasts forever, and my precious shopping/grocery bag is beginning to loosen a lot in the seams. So I decided to do a new one with some strong and cute fabric I had at home. Very appropriate for spring and summer. Look how good it turned out!
Haven't been sewing for years, but it was really fun. Now I'm thinking about doing some more easy sewing projects. And after watching "Coco avant Chanel" the other day, I really got inspired to improve my sewing skills.

Ola Skogäng "You can live on your Pen"

Oh, right.. I totally forgot to tell you about our seminar/lecture with Ola Skogäng before Christmas. We were a bit afraid he wouldn't be able to come at first. We had the forces of nature mixturing with his train the first time he was supposed to come and visit us, fortunately we re-scheduled for the week after.. and luckily, it didn't snow quite as much that day, the 13th of December 2012!

He was really good at lecturing and fun to listen to. He pointed out that you need 'Knowledge, Talent and Connections to succeed', but that you shouldn't become a comic book artist to become rich. Of course it depends on your situation and hopefully it will be worthwhile. But you may have to wait for that money to come, so focus more on your ideas in the meantime.. work hard and practice, practice!
He also gave us some really great tips on how to organize the working hours and structure our work, when working with for example a whole comic book.
He especially pointed out the importance of research with accurate design to make it credible. Followed by your own touches and design to make it interesting.
Everything of what he was saying made sense and a lot of it wasn't all news to us, I can't speak for everyone though. But it was truly amazing and inspiring, hearing it from an active and such a talented comic book artist. I'm really thankful he took the time and effort, visiting us.

White/Lime

Icy white tulips and french buttercup/Ranunculus, together with a lovely scented and lime coloured broom (Genista). A clear favourite right now! The temperature has been perfect in my appartment, for flowers the recent weeks. So when I have flowers at home they last, and that's super. But it hasn't been that "Hannah-appropriate", it's been freezing!! Fortunately the landlord is coming today, hopefully in a couple of hours, to have a look at the windows and radiators.. So I'm hoping he'll be able to fix it straight away!
Although I love when flowers last, I hate getting sick. And I think I'm on the verge to that.. So to prevent it, I need some heat in this place.. and soon! So keep your fingers crossed!

Our need for Disasters..!?

School project again.. We were supposed to "think outside the box" this time, and create an opening image for a fictional program about how our society is effected by and questioning if we have a supposed need for disasters. The assignment was to do something different, interpret and sum up the theme with one image. This is mine.
I wanted to point out the the growing problem with our consumer society, and also that it is a really big and increasing problem. That it's definitely not taking issues and disasters in the right direction, more like pushing it in the opposite/wrong way. Kind of obvious, when you look at it now. Right? Haha.. ;)
It was fun to do, I really liked working on a black paper. I'm excited to see the other's work in my class, on Thursday.

To many buds on that bulb

To many stems not enough space.. All of the buds(three) on this Hippeastrum, Amaryllis stopped at the same height. I could see that it would be quite problematic for all of them to bloom almost at the same time. Not to forget, heavy for the pot to balance. So I cut one stem off and decided just to let it be beautiful by itself, in a vase. Love it, minimalistic solitude!

At distance.. again.

It's hard being apart. Starting to feel like a pro on long distance relationship, but this time it feels even harder. Although I'll go and visit him. But I sure do hope these months will pass by quickly this time.

Oh, by the way.. We've set a date, and booked a place. It will be a winter wedding, of course. Exciting, isn't it!? H+N

All of the Lights

New Year's was a blast, and I took the opportunity to practice on my photography skills(they're under improvement, so to speak..). I think it's interesting with lights vs. the darkest of nights. So perfect circumstances during this particular evening/night!

This House is Clean

Ahh, back to normal again. Christmas has been cleaned away (and the New Year's celebration, which for many is a bigger mess to clean!) But because we we're in Denmark over New Year's, I only had our Christmas decorations to put away in the basement again when we got home. Clean a bit, then just eat the rest of the Christmas cookies and candy. Then I was done! So it all went quite quickly because I was all hyped on sugar, haha..
In Sweden it's custom to clean Christmas away this weekend, an old Christian tradition. But I think a lot of people do it even before, because it feel's good to start the new year fresh and without traces from the year that's passed. In Denmark, I didn't see a trace of Christmas when arriving on the 28th of December. Except on Kastrup Airport of course, there I saw plenty! But in the homes of families and friends, it was all cleaned away.
