Fishy fishy..?!

This is a beloved item I have at home, I inherited it last year.. My question is, does anyone know where this fish comes from and maybe when..? I've been searching the web without results, so if anyone comes up with or know something about it. Please, share your information! :)

MiB 3

Just saw it and it was funny! Loved the other Men in Black-movies, but I think this was the best one out of the three. So I can really recommend it! Another great evening at the cinema, perfect beginning to the weekend! Amazing acting, especially by Josh Brolin as the young agent K - looked exactly as one would imagine him to look. And Will Smith, what's not to like!

New Characters

are being created! Working on a school project - Comic Strips. At first it felt difficult so late in the semester, but then the teacher just told us to "Draw, draw, draw!" So I did and now I know how I want them to look. Here you see one of the characters.

New Orchide!

Orchids.. so beautiful and easy to take care of. This is one of the most common orchids, Phalaenopsis. Water it once a week, and then a lot of light. If the orchides stands directly in the burning sunlight to long this time a year, it can become to hot for the plant.

Cleaning out my closet

Today I'm sorting out clothes that I'm never going to wear again and that can come to better use elsewhere than in the back of my closet.

I try to fix the clothes or give them a new style/color, so I can start to use them again or they will be wearable again for someone else. Maybe they can be part of something new, reuse the fabric in a new garment.
Don't throw a lot of wretched clothes in the trash, go to a public recycling point or site so they can be taken care of the right way.
The best thing to do if the clothes are clean and in one piece -
you should donate! To friends/family, charities, relief and aid organisations. There could be some sort of clothes rumble nearby, where you can switch clothes with others.
If you don't want to just give them away, try to sell them on the internet or maybe on a flea market/yard sale.

In Sweden the average person throws 8 kilos of clothes in the trash, every year! And we buy 15 kilos a year per person..?! Come on, start consuming wisely! Or your closet will implode..?

Save the Amazon!

1,8 million have signed the petition - Let's reach 2 million!
I have signed it, and so should you!

Brazil's Congress has just passed a bill that gives loggers and farmers free rein to cut down huge swaths of the Amazon. Only President Dilma can veto it(and a decision will come this week, so hurry to sign it!). Domestic pressure is mounting, but a massive global outcry will prove her international reputation is at stake. The Amazon is vital to life on earth -- 20% of our oxygen comes from this magnificent rainforest, and it plays a key role in mitigating global climate change.

Let's tip her over the edge to stop the Amazon chainsaw massacre --
sign the urgent petition and tell everyone!

Hottentott

I love the new appartment and how much light there is, especially now when the season of sun and bright nights is coming. But the sun is trying to fry my plants and flowers already and the summer hasn't even started..! Not to happy about that, as I have to reorganize a lot in the windows. But in preparation I've bought some plants that can take the heat, literally! Like this one for example..

Crassula Rupestris
Also called "Hottentott" in Sweden, don't ask me why.
If someone knows the english name for it, I'd like to know - so please share your knowledge!

Cup of joy? Yes, please!

Apparently I might have been a bit grumpy at home recently, and also expressing a certain dissatisfaction with the cups we have(not the right size, but a bit unfair to take my stress out on them..haha).
So to cheer me up, I was given this yesterday - a beautiful cup, with matching napkins and lemongrass tea.
So now I'm happier than ever, drinking in my new big cup..! ;)

Snack Time!

When I have a lot to do, I sometimes need a snack to pull me through.. and the perfect energy boost for me is dried fruit. So I filled up a stock, just in case I need it to stay focused. I also bought some fresh roses just to give a boost in colour at home too.

Important when you buy dried fruit is to choose the one with no added sugar(there's enough natural sugar in it anyway) and in my opinion, the organically produced ones of course.. tastewise, and it's better for you and Mother Nature. :)

Learn the web

Not the most fun to do, but necessery for me. I'm reading books about how to set up webpages, learning about how to use the web and testing tutorials and excercises. And also, just to mix it up(!?) trying to fully understand InDesign. And it's going ok. I think I will learn more out of practice, but I think it's easier if I get familiar with the right terms first.

This is the plan today, and tomorrow in school as well.. Hoping that I can spend some time painting or sketching new comics and illustrations as soon as I'm finished with this. Luckily, it's summer soon!
Hope you're having a more enjoyable couple of days!

BASILicious

This basil gives a heavenly scent to the kitchen and it's so tasty! I'm feeding it with a lot of sunshine and not letting it dry out to much. Then hopefully it will feed me, for a long time.. Yum, yum..

Eco Pencils

I've found some eco-friendly pencils on the internet, they seem pretty good and they're made out of recycled paper instead of tree. Now I'm really eager to try them out! So I'm just going to contact the producer and see where I can buy them. I'll let you know how you can get hold of them as soon as I hear from the producer.

Picture Moment!

WWF posted this beautiful image as their "Pic of the week"(Antartica) and I think it's amazing, so I felt like sharing it with you. (Oh by the way, I want to brag - I'm going to the cinema tonight, to see Tim Burton's "Dark Shadows"! If you want to see the trailer, click here!)

Chained to the computer..

Therapy and Pie

This morning I've just been looking through old interiour design magazines, cutting out pages or images that I like and maybe can use as inspiration in the future. Then I glue it on to pages in my big scrap book.
You see, I don't like keeping magazines in piles nor as a decorative detail. It takes up space and also it's much easier to have all your ideas, tips and inspiration gathered in one place/book. So instead I recycle the paper when I'm done reading and cutting in them. It's almost like meditation or therapy for me.
Well I won't be doing this all morning, 'cause I have some friends visiting today. And yesterday I saw a recipe I would like to try, banana pie.. Mmm.. It sounds delicious, let's hope it is!

Coffee - Do your Magic!

I'm working on a graphic profile, and I have found a really good site for inspiration www.behance.net

This poster by Simon Ålander on the website, caught my eye as I was drinking my coffee and it felt appropriate to post. And just continue with my work although I'm a bit tired.. Bottoms up!

Purple Anthurium

Look who's awakening after its winter slumber.. I love Anthurium, it's such an easy plant. Doesn't need a lot of water and looks beautiful as a green plant or in bloom, especielly this one! With its purple shiny flowers!

Graffiti NEW YORK

is the book, inspiring me at the moment. I like to look at all kinds of art forms. This week I've been reading about graffiti in New York.
I started to look on the pictures I took while I was in New York, posting a few of them here. I have always wanted to be a mysterious graffiti artist. Maybe this summer, I should buy a giant wooden board or something and just practice, practice.. I think it's important to try out the different art forms as well. But it feels like I need to do it outdoors.

Avengers

Due to a packed schedule this weekend, I missed the premiere of the movie Avengers. But last night I finally saw it, and it was awesome! I highly recommend it to all of you, if you haven't already seen it. It's comedy with perfect timing and not a dull moment thanks to amazing action scenes and effects. And in 3D, ahhh.. fantastic! I love that they finally did this movie, and it was quite clear in the end that we can expect another one.

Dressed appropriately for the occasion..With the right accessories!
Here's the trailer if you havent seen it:

Green Glass

I store a lot of things in the kitchen, in glass old fashioned jars and bottles. I think it's practical, clean and gives a retro touch. Depending on what you have in your jars, you can also take advantage of the contents color as an addition to your interior style or depending on which season it is..

A lot of the jars and bottles I have are inherited goods and vintage treasures from yard sales, second hand stores and fleamarkets. If you buy a glass jar in a grocery store and you're not going to recycle it when you've emptied all the jam or whatever content it contained before.. Reuse it! I chose to use a glass jar as a flower pot instead, as seen below.

If it already exists, why buy it new..?
Go retro, go green.
