On the train

On my way to Stockholm again, to celebrate a birthday and to help my sister and her boyfriend move into a new appartment. It's been promised good and warm weather. I brought my shorts and I'm hoping to improve my for the moment non-excisting tan. The state my legs are in right now, they shouldn't be shown in public. But a good friend convinced me that in order to get some colour, I actually have to expose myself to the sun.. shocker! I'm not dumb.. I knew that. It's just uncomfortable the first couple of times/days.
As you can see I'm also drinking carot juice, just to increase the odds of getting a great tan. With the midsummer celebrations coming up this weekend, it could be nice to actually be able to show some flesh! ;) I'm spending my midsummer in Mora this year, that's about as Swedish as it gets.

Taking the train is a good way to travel. It's easy and beneficial especially in an environmental point of view. Although the tickets really are quite expensive here in Sweden, and it's a pity they don't lower the prices. Because I think a lot more people would take the train then. I'm fortunate to be able to buy it at a student price, and sure sometimes you can get lucky by booking your ticket in advance. More people should take the train though. Trains are fast and air-conditioned(usually). During the summer, you can see and experience a lot of our beautiful country and it's landscape. I'm actually taking the train in a couple of weeks again. To go to a wedding, up north in Sweden, in Piteå. Hoping to get a few tips for our own wedding planning.

May.. over already?!

I'm finding it really hard to keep up.. with this thing we call time. I mean, what happened with the month of May? Where did it go and where was I??! Yeah, sure.. I've had a lot of things to do the last couple of weeks with the final project in school and all, but still. It just.. Poof! Gone! I can't be the only one thinking and experiencing this.. am I?
Anyway, talking about the project. A few days ago, I sent my illustrations off to become "prints" and some of the illustrations will even get tried out as t-shirt decor. I'm not really sure on how good the printing company I hired is, but it's more for the presentation of the project. If I'm not satisfied with the prints and t-shirt, I can just try a different company at a later time or with another project. The presentation and the final date for the project is due next week. Hopefully all the prints and t-shirts will be done today. So I'll have enough time this weekend to prepare for the presentation. Jippie..exciting stuff!
I'll post my work here in a few weeks, and would love some feedback. So feel free to comment about it. :)

Cards'n'Cake

Celebrated my boss yesterday, with presents and cake. Ate way too much cake, but it was soooo good. Blueberry and cream, Mmm..! I made a card for the occassion, and felt quite pleased with the result. It was appreciated, so it wasn't just me and my opinion.. haha.. :)

We're also going out for dinner and some drinks next week, to celebrate her some more. So looking forward to that!

DIY bridal hair comb

Found this super easy tutorial and got totally inspired to create my own hair comb for the wedding. I'm going to be on the lookout for a cool brooch or maybe light grey pearls to use. Or maybe some cute buttons, there are several possibilities! This way it will be unique, handmade and probably a lot cheaper than buying a new or vintage hair comb/jewelry.

Et tu, Cactus..?

Some of my plants decided to demonstrate the fact that they were sharing this pot. So I got some new soil and rocks, and gave them both some space. ;)

Lotta Kühlhorn - my inspiration

I found this book just as I started my project, this semester. It has been my bible, my star and my inspiration. I've been carrying it around everywhere(my arms are getting strong!). It's called "Rapport! En bok om att göra mönster", and it really is the essentials of pattern making. A real Best-buy!
Lotta Kühlhorn, a true inspiration and I have made her my unofficial mentor thanks to this book. It's the kind of woman one would like to work with or be an assistant for. Demanding that she has too teach me everyhing she knows. She's incredible and has accomplished a lot, created so many unforgettable patterns. Her book has been a real help, when it comes to measurements, how-to-think and good advice. You can probably tell, she's my Mr.Miyagi. I read the book, wax on.. read the book, wax off!
I don't know if you can buy it in English, but the Swedish version has really opened my eyes for the perfect profession!

Avocado Tree

You remember that Avocado seed I had in a vase..? Well it cracked and roots came out. I planted it, and waited almost 5 weeks. And look, it's growing! After it got about 15 cm high, I read that it was best to cut it down. So I did. After a few days, I got a bit anxious because it looked as though it was about to dry out.. But now there's small, small branches growing on the sides again. The key during this, has been keeping the soil moist but not too wet. That's really the trick, so far! I'll keep you posted on the progress. :)
